My goal is to bring back the power of relational talk therapy. I think as a field we have lost our ability to do effective talk therapy. I think non-talk therapies are great supplements to talk therapy, but without the talk therapy they are not as effective or powerful. I have seen many powerful changes in clients through both short-term and long-term relational talk therapy. The research has consistently stated the relationship is the most important part to change in therapy.

I received my Masters of Clinical Psychology in 2002 and my Masters of Social Work in 2005. I am currently working on my certification for Mentalization-Based Treatment and continue to educate myself on many different therapeutic modalities. I have received training in EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT and Somatic Therapy.

Working in the field for 26 years, I accumulated a vast amount of knowledge and skill. I worked in the medical field for 19 years as a case manager and the last 8 years I have worked as a psychotherapist with individuals, couples and families from a variety of demographic backgrounds. For the last 4 years, I have provided individual and group supervision.

I take an integrative approach to all of my work and utilize many different therapeutic modalities. I practice from a psychodynamic base and integrate other therapies as needed.

For the last year, I have consulted with other therapists and supervisors. I did both formal and informal consultation on legal and ethical issues, therapeutic interventions and test preparation for state licensing exams.

In the future, I plan on offering educational workshops and will provide continuing education units.

Psychotherapy consultation consists of case conceptualization. When I consult about cases, I explore therapeutic modalities, legal and ethical issues, diversity and the relational dynamics between therapist and client.

In order to thrive in private practice, you need some understanding of the business side including taxes, scheduling and charting.

I love supervising. Supervision is the bridge between graduation and solo practice. Effective supervision is vital to therapeutic success. I work with psychotherapists who wish to become supervisors. Washington state requires 25 hours of supervision of a therapist's supervision before a therapist can supervise independently.
